Getting from Thessaloniki Airport to the city

Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” (SKG) is located southeast of the city. Visitors can reach the city center by public bus, taxi, or a combination of bus and metro connection.

Airport Bus 1X / 1N

Bus lines 1X and 1N connect the airport with Thessaloniki city center, the New Railway Station and KTEL Makedonia bus terminal. Line 1N is the night service.

Bus 79 / 2X connections

Line 79 connects the airport with the eastern bus transfer station at IKEA. Line 2X connects the airport with the metro transfer station at Nea Elvetia.

Taxi

Taxis are available outside the arrivals area of the airport. Travel time to the city center depends on traffic. It is recommended to confirm the fare with the driver before departure.

Moving around the city

Thessaloniki’s central area is walkable, especially around Aristotelous Square, the waterfront, Ladadika, Tsimiski Street, Agia Sophia and the White Tower.
